About Us Hello, My name is Craig McCaleb, owner of East Bay Home Inspection.   I am a licensed General Contractor and for the past 15 years I have worked exclusively as a home inspector.  My experience in construction and business began 30 years ago when I opened my own cabinet-making and furniture shop.  My company branched into the design, manufacture and construction of kit homes. Later I worked as a carpenter and supervisor for several mid-size residential and commercial contractors and eventually I ran my own remodeling company.  In between I have spent years renovating my own Victorian home in Berkeley California.  I have learned the art, science and practice of home inspection through hands-on experience in every aspect of residential construction.  My experiences have provided me with: A thorough knowledge of practices and products in residential construction An ability to communicate technical issues to clients of all abilities An interest in learning about new construction methods, systems and products that are entering the market place and that can benefit you, the homeowner An understanding of building codes An interest in energy-efficiency and “green building”
